Therefore, besides the spectacular imperial palaces, it also possesses the most luxurious royal gardens—the well-preserved Summer Palace with an area of 727 acres,  the elegant Beihai Park and the destroyed Old Summer Palace. Climate: Beijing is situated at the northern tip of the roughly triangular North China Plain  which opens to the south and east of the city.
